MEMORY VERSE: "You shall not Curse God, nor curse a ruler of your people" (Exd. 22:28)
TEXT: 1Kings 21:8-13
MESSAGE: In a viral story that broke out in June 2018, it was reported that a 21-year old Italian midfielder, Rolando Mandragora, was banned for one seria. A game after making "blasphemous remarks" during his team's 1-0 win over Sampdoria. He was said to have referred to God as a dog. The young man was caught on television cursing God.
Funny enough, as reported, he received only a match ban. Don't be tempted to follow the steps of the Italian who got off the hook lightly. Leviticus 25:15 says, "You will speak to the sons of Israel, saying, if anyone curses his God, then he will bear his sin." Then Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:3 "Wherefore I give you to understand that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed........."
Be careful about making a joke of anything that has to do with God. God blesses those who honour Him. 1 Samuel 2:30 says, ".........But now the Lord saith, be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed." From our text, you will notice that the charge against Naboth was that he cursed God and the Kings and for that he was executed. It was a false accusation though, but our prayer is that it will not also be truly charged of the same offence.
CONTROLLING THOUGHTS: If men ban you, God can cancel it. But, If God places a ban on you who will release you from it?
PRAYER: Lord, please do not allow me to incur your wrath
