"He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich"
(Proverbs 21:17).
A certain young man in his lust for freedom without restraint demanded for the portion of his own inheritance from his father and traveled to a far country, where he wasted his life and wealth in pursuit of fun and pleasure. When his money got finished, his so called friends deserted him, since they were only fair weather friends. He learned the hard way that, you cannot enjoy the things money can buy if you ignore the things money cannot buy. He became destitute and poor. Fortunately he went back to the father in repentance.
Are you like this young man, the prodigal son? Count the cost. Do not hurry along with the pleasure - mad - throng. Are you a fun seeker and pleasure lover? This is risky as not only poverty but diseases and hell fire can be consequences. Reread our text above and check your life. All forms of frivolities and pleasure lead to poverty because you can never plan and save for tomorrow when you live a wasteful life. Pray for your soul's salvation, then begin to add value to your life today.
CHALLENGE: Beware of fun and pleasure.
PRAYER: Rid me of all sinful pleasure oh Lord.
QUOTE: Add value to your life.
